John Goodman had a starstruck moment with one of Hollywood's biggest names.

Speaking with PEOPLE in a look at the famed actor's Life in Pictures, Goodman reflected on his time as Fred Flintstone in 1994's The Flintstones.

The film gave him the opportunity to work with the incomparable Elizabeth Taylor, something that has left a mark on the actor that lasts to this day.

"Elizabeth Taylor was my mother-in-law in The Flintstones. She took a fall in the film, so we were just squatting around her, talking to her," he recalled.

"I just got her talking about [Richard] Burton a little bit when she was on the floor, and it was wow."

Taylor was married to actor Richard Burton from 1964 to 1974, and again from 1975 to 1976. The two were one of the most iconic couples of their day, with their relationship regularly making headlines.

The film, which would be Taylor's final movie role, saw her playing Wilma Flintstone's mom, Pearl Slaghoople.

"There's old-school movie stars and then there's Elizabeth Taylor. She was at the zenith in her life and in films. I never thought I'd ever get to meet her," Goodman said of working with her.
