LOUISVILLE, Ky. − A state trooper was among multiple people wounded Sunday in a series of shooting incidents in Kentucky, Gov. Andy Beshear said in a social media post.
Beshear said authorities we are aware of a series of incidents in Lexington, including a trooper-involved shooting, and a shooting at Richmond Road Baptist Church. The trooper and others are being treated at a nearby hospital, he said.
State police said in a statement that the suspect shot a trooper and then fled the scene before authorities "were able to secure the suspect." The suspect is deceased, the statement said.
"Please pray for everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence, and let’s give thanks for the swift response by the Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police," Beshear wrote. "Details are still emerging, and we will share more information as available."
